ZOMBOY BIO:
A.K.A Josh Mellody the newest addition to the Never Say Die family.

Originally from a background of more traditional sound engineering, running his own recording studio, recording bands and artists, and gaining a following in America with his solo project “Place Your Bet$”, it was when he moved to Guildford to study a degree in Music production at the ACM that he discovered a new love for electronic music.

It doesn’t take a genius to hear his influences with Zomboy siting artists such as Skrillex, Reso, Rusko, and Bare Noize as the reason he wanted to dominate the dubstep scene.

And dominate he will. His debut EP has just been released on Never Say Die Records and features tracks such as the face melting track ‘Dirty Disco’ the pure filth of ‘Pirate Hooker’ and future hit ‘P.A.R.T.Y’. He has also done a remix of Flux Pavilion’s ‘Bass Cannon’ that will be released in late 2011. Be warned.

Keskiviikkona 7.9. FADE valloittaa Kulttuurisporan tuodakseen tiukkaa elektronista soundia ja FADE- visuaaleja raiteille.
Kyytiin pääsee normaalin HKL-lipun hinnalla (Myös toki kk-kortit skulaa normaalisti) ja spora matkaa ympäri Helsinkiä 7B reittiä.
Sporassa soundia puskee FADE dj´t Milla Lehto, Casper ja Boy Jorge.

FADE juhlistaa kesän alkua lanseeraamalla uuden kesäkonseptin lauantaina 2.7. ystävilleen idyllisessä Fannyssä ja kesäisessä Koffin puistossa.

Bileet alkavat lauantaina päivällä klo 15 ja soundista vastaa FADE dj´t (Milla Lehto, Casper ja Boy Jorge) seuranaan Genki (Stealth Unit, React^). Ohjelmassa nähdään myös Taikatulet vieraineen esittämässä tulitanssia sekä Suvi Valkonen Helsinki Poetry Connectionista vetämässä sanataidesadetta Spoken Word – setissään.Kesän kunniaksi tapahtumaan on ilmainen sisäänpääsy kaikille!

Auringosta voi nauttia puistossa tai Fannyn ihanalla terassilla ja samalla tulla kuuntelemaan laadukasta soundia ja näkemään mielenkiintoisia performansseja FADE:n vierailta.Lisäksi Fannyssä herkutellaan mahtavalla brunssilla klo 10.30-15 juuri sopivasti ennen illan bileitä.

Kovaydin Vastarinta tekee Pori Jazzien aikaan iskun Poriin keskiviikkona 13.7. Paikkana toimii Porin keskustassa sijaitseva Down Under.
Paikallisilla on vahva edustus tapahtumassa: vanhan koulukunnan mies Arska soittaa setin ysärigabberia, Jamqpa soittaa liven säröistä industrial hardcorea ja Rhythmic Disorder (aka Obakemono) vetää myös live setin kokeellisempaa hardcorea, breakcorea ja kuulemma myös corepitoista dubsteppiä! Tampereelta saapuvat vakionaamat RujoNic, Stak Etop ja Zutsuu. Rujolta on luvassa dj-setti menevämpää ja synkempää rumpubassoa ja rumpucorea, Stak Etop soittaa setin pervoa breakcorea joka varmasti uppoaa myös avoinmielisempiin jazzfestarien vieraisiin ja Zutsuulta luvassa live-setti kantaaottavaa ja psykedeelistä corea. Rrrumblet päräyttävät Lahden jälleen 4.6. kun slovakialainen L Plus lentää paikan päälle tarkastamaan synttärimeiningit. Kolmivuotias Rrrumble-klubi ei jätä tälläkään kertaa tanssikansaa kylmäksi. Ja KEHTO Magazine sponsoroi tapahtumaa, be there!

L PLUS (VIPER, FORMATION, SK)

Started his career as drum&bass DJ in 1998 at university of architecture in Bratislava, where he founded the DJ crew TRADEMARK with his 2 friends. He started to perform at local parties and soon became a part of the drum&bass scene in Slovakia. The same year he started to produce his own tracks. Quickly L PLUS got a well known DJ in Slovakia and Czech republic, played on different Festivals, clubs and radio-shows around Europe. 2002 he won the JIM BEAM DJ contest and became an owner of new pair of Technics turntables. The same year L PLUS released his first promo vinyl and celebrated his release party in S. Petersburg.

The next years got big for L PLUS, when many UK top producers and DJs start playing his tunes and his name became more and more known in the international drum and bass circus. That’s why he is taking his production work more serious and spends more time in his studio in Bratislava’s centre. The year 2007 was really breaking for Mr PLUS. He signed several tunes for labels like: URBAN TAKEOVER, XPOSURE, CYMBALISM, INTRINSIC, PHUNKFICTION, SIDECHAIN, FIRST GENERATION and ROBOTIX. He collaborated with Russian top producer Paul B and MC Coppa on a track called DANJAZ which was played worldwide.

At the end of 2007 he signed MIDDLE EAST SUN for Futurebound’s VIPER, and couple of weeks ago the almighty ANDY C choose this tune for his latest mix NIGHTLIFE4 released on RAM records. L PLUS became a part of the VIPER crew and signed more tunes for VIPER for future releases.

After short break he is back in year 2010 with new signings for FORMATION, BAD MONKEY and VIPER, new collaborations, remixes and new wicked original sound.

His live mixes are full of energy, power, heavy basslines and rolling beats, but it’s still full of atmosphere. It’s partly neurofunk and a bit of jumpy basslines as his production goes with this way. You can find there many different styles of drum&bass, new promos from different top producers as well as older evergreens and of course some booties as well. And if you saw his dance creations behind the decks with his basketball body, no one will take a break during his show

Bass System Presents: Club VOID with Black Sun Empire & Defence

Black Sun Empire (NL)

Black Sun Empire represent the finest in dark and techy dancefloor drum and bass.

Black Sun Empire is the stage name of a team of Dutch disc jockeys and Drum & Bass music producers Rene Verdult and brothers Milan and Micha Heyboer.

Based out of Utrecht, Netherlands, they started making Drum & Bass in 1995 when they turned to the likes of artists such as Photek, LTJ Bukem, and Ed Rush. Before that they enjoyed Techno and Breaks. After having a few releases on smaller record labels, they managed to get the attention of bigger producers like Trace, currently known for his DSCI4 label. At the moment they have three labels of their own; Black Sun Empire Recordings, oBSEssions and Shadows of the Empire. The group’s name comes from the Black Sun Crime Syndicate, which appeared in the Star Wars novel Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire.

They also lent one of their tracks (“Arrakis”) to the E³ 2006 trailer of the game EVE Online titled “No Other Destiny”.

In 2008 Black Sun Empire started to produce Dubstep: “Cold Crysis” is an example of Black Sun Empire Dubstep production.

Defence (HKI)

Defence is a newcomer to the drum’n'bass scene from Finland. The guys, Matti (Matic) and Mikko (Quadra) have been around in the local scene already for some years on their own, but sharing similar influences and interests in music as well as being good friends, it was natural to for them to have a go at writing tracks together. Thus, Defence was born.

Matti and Mikko are both originally hip hop heads, but after hearing tracks like “Horizons” and “Watermelon” nearly a decade ago, there’s been no turning back. Since then people have been able to witness them rocking the crowd separately and together at parties around Finland. Both guys are know for their strict sense of style and tight mixing, as well as being diverse dj’s covering different areas of drum’n'bass.

Same applies to their production. When the duo goes to the studio, no style of drum’n'bass is left unexplored. Crisp beats collide with funk-fueled basslines and the results of these sessions have already been supported by the likes of Blu Mar Ten, Randall, Physics and L.A.O.S.
